Automatic Report Generation
The Saisei Traffic Manager platform™ stores historical data in a MySQL database for future use in generating
Daily, Weekly and Monthly reports that can be sent to multiple email recipients.
With the advent of Release 7.0 of the STM software there are subtle differences in how the functionality is
accessed when compared to Release 6.0.9 and older, but the configuration of the email server is however in the
same location.
Configuring the Email Server
This is configured by selecting the “running” entry in the Navigation Tree and further selecting the “Modify”
option revealed by a right mouse click on the object as shown here:
For Release 6.0
For Release 7.0To view the tree under Release 7.0 the user must first select the “FLOWCOMMAND” tab.
The subsequent window that is revealed is displayed as follows:
To configure the email server to be used it is necessary to configure the SMTP entries shown above and listed
here:
- SMTP Sender Address which is the email address for the “From” entry as an example this could be
"reports@saisei.com" when using the Saisei server
- SMTP password such as "Report1ng" when using the Saisei server
- Confirm Password
- SMTP Server such as "smtp.gmail.com:587", note it is essential to include any port number required in the
format shown.
From Release 7.0 the SMTP Server details can also be configured using the new tab screens where the SMTP details
are located under the SYSTEM tab and General sub tab.
Configuring Email Addresses for the Reports
As previously stated it is possible to send Daily, Weekly and Monthly reports using the same screen as before:
As can be seen there are 4 configurable options, any or all of which can be configured with a list of “To” or destination
email addresses which are comma separated. The user can also select the report file format, docx being shown
above. The fields to configure are therefore:
- Email Daily Reports List
- Email Weekly Reports List
- Email Monthly Reports List
- Report Format
Configuring Scheduled Report
From Release 7.0 onward it is also possible to set up a schedule for generating reports, this is achieved by selecting the
“Reports” tab from the GUI which reveals the following:
Further selecting the “Scheduled” tab reveals the options to be configured. These options are identical to those
presented early and have the addition of a time of day to generate the report.
As always configuring entries into the system should be saved to non volatile disc memory otherwise if a reload
occurs the changes will be lost.
